Since its founding in 1970, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles (CYE) has grown to provide musicians of all ages a comprehensive music education experience. CYE’s mission is to cultivate every student's artistic and creative potential through rewarding musical experiences while developing meaningful skills outside the arts.

CYE consists of two full orchestras, four string orchestras, three wind ensembles, and three jazz ensembles, as well as several chamber ensembles and jazz combos. Led by dedicated and masterful music directors, each ensemble offers a unique opportunity for students at all skill levels seeking musical experiences beyond the classroom. CYE provides students with the chance to perform at historic Orchestra Hall and to learn from Detroit Symphony Orchestra musicians.

The Dearborn Youth Symphony is a thriving instrumental music organization that offer instructional and performance opportunities to youth musicians. Membership is offered through audition and includes elementary through high school students ages 8-20. There are no school or residency restrictions to participate. Currently, our students represent 27 communities throughout Southeast Michigan.

Interlochen offers a variety of art summer camp experiences—with lengths and dates for kids and youth in multiple age ranges (grades 3-12). Two and four-week sessions are available for grades 3-6, six and three-week sessions are available for grades 6-12, and one-week "Intensive" programs are available for grades 9-12.

MPulse is a residential performing arts summer program designed for high school students who have interest in pursuing their area of study in a higher education setting. Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony - https://www.detroitmys.org/
Since 1982 the Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony has developed students from nearly 50 communities in its four orchestras.  Our mission is to provide an advanced youth ensemble experience that is challenging and fun, stimulates musical development, and supplements the school program.  We have weekly Saturday morning rehearsals September through May at The Hawk (Farmington Hills), and perform three Sunday afternoon concerts each season at The Hawk and other venues across metropolitan Detroit.

The MPYO is the centerpiece of the Michigan Philharmonic’s music education program, offering a full program of three orchestras and a wind ensemble. Performance opportunities include several MPYO concerts every year and side-by-side performances with the professional Michigan Philharmonic.

The Spartan Youth Wind Symphony (SYWS) is an honors wind ensemble for high school students. Open to the most outstanding Michigan high school instrumentalists (woodwind, brass, and percussion), the Spartan Youth Wind Symphony provides an opportunity to rehearse in a university setting. Students will perform and interact with peers from around the state and receive instruction from College of Music faculty and students. They will enhance their skills as musicians and ensemble performers through the exploration of advanced-level repertoire in an inspired rehearsal atmosphere. Each semester culminates in combined performances with the MSU Wind Symphony, Symphony Band or MSU Alumni Concert Band.

America’s premier youth fiddling show band from Saline, Michigan, astounds audiences every time the group takes the stage. The musicians, all from Saline High School, present an energetic and polished show that features a diverse range of music from American folk, fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, western swing, and Celtic traditions.  Spirited vocals and Appalachian step dancing combine with the instrumentals to create an unforgettable live performance.  This fully equipped, amplified, self-contained performance group is highly adaptable; no venue is too small, no stage is too large!

Chelsea House Orchestra provides a varied and colorful performance repertoire with the majority of the music derived from traditional Celtic sources. However, other folk music sources are used to provide students with an eclectic musical experience. The basic philosophy of the arrangements is to allow everyone in the group to enjoy Celtic music as much as possible. Consequently, the majority of the playing is melody based with very little inner harmony or separate part writing. This truly provides students a contrasting experience from their normal school orchestra. Students are also encouraged to learn other instruments such as mandolin, guitar, bodhran, djembe, cajon, various folk percussion, bass, bouzouki and anything else they can think of that has a folk connection.

Students live and study at Juilliard, with daily activities including lessons, coachings, studio classes, master classes, ensembles, career seminars and more. Our summer jazz immersion programs are held on the beautiful campus of Stanford University. With classrooms, performance venues, food, and dormitories all in close proximity, SJW becomes a self-contained jazz village in which students stay focused on their jazz studies and interact easily and often with our great faculty and artists. Facilitating musical interaction between generations of jazz musicians is central to the mission of the Stanford Jazz Workshop, and the excellent and safe facilities of the Braun Music Center help make this possible. 
Giant Steps Day Camp is for middle school students and for kids who will be entering middle school in the Fall. Giant Steps Day Camp provides a five-day long introduction to jazz styles and improvisation, and it also offers daily master classes in technique for instrumentalists and vocalists. The program begins a 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m., with optional after-camp jam sessions and activities. 
Jazz Camp is for students from 12 to 17 years of age. Focused on combo performance and improvisation, the Jazz Camp curriculum provides thorough training in jazz theory, ear training, and instrumental and vocal techniques. Our Jazz Camp Package program combines the two weeks of Jazz Camp into a continuous 13-day immersion in jazz instruction.

The Walden School Young Musicians Program provides an unparalleled creative summer experience for musically inclined students ages 9 to 18. Part school, part camp, and part festival, the program convenes each summer for five weeks in the beautiful Monadnock region in Dublin, New Hampshire.
